Port de Bègles

Thanks to its location on the banks of the Garonne, the port developed rapidly during the 1930s, with the arrival of boats from Iceland,

unloading fresh cod salted on board the trawlers. This activity led to the creation of twenty-five drying plants, employing over three hundred of the municipality’s inhabitants.
