Marais des Brizards

Located at the confluence of the Isle and the Dordogne rivers, this meandering area, subject to the influence of the tide, holds back the river waters that flow towards the Estuary. This wet basin, called "palus" in Libourne, is by definition a vast flood zone. This freshwater wetland, of major ecological interest, is one of the most remarkable in Aquitaine.

How to get there

From Les Billaux town hall, walk down Rue du Bocage, following the signs for the "Circuit de la Barbanne, Boucle du Bocage" hiking trails. 1.1 km further on, just before passing under the freeway, turn right onto Chemin du Marais.
