Musée National des Douanes

Located in the symbolic Place de la Bourse in Bordeaux, in the "Hôtel des Fermes" which housed the customs and taxes administration, the National Customs Museum is unique. It is the only place where you can discover the History of France through one of its oldest administrations.

First follow the chronological path, from Antiquity to the 19th century, with a wealth of 13000 very surprising objects, and then discover the everyday life of customs agents.

At the National Customs Museum, children can try being a customs officer with a fun and educational treasure hunt. Adults are fascinated by the history of record drug seizures and embezzled works of art like Monet’s “Customs House” and the many different counterfeiting techniques used by art forgers which were cleverly foiled by Customs officials.
