Voie Romaine

In 56 B.C., the Romans built many cities and a great road, the Levade, linking Burdigala (Bordeaux) to Noviomagus (Vertheuil). This route roughly corresponds to the Bordeaux/Soulac road.

The Levade borders the sports hall and schools of Saint-Laurent. It then passes on the west side of the cemetery, then skirts the stadium from the east and runs alongside the Pas du Loup stream. It reappears on its way to the east of the Château Balac.

This path continues to Saint-Sauveur, passing the church and the school opposite it.

Two roads detach themselves from the Levade north of Saint-Sauveur to cross the brooks in different places :

- the westernmost one passing by the Château Fontesteau and the place called "la Mouline"

- the furthest east seems to pass the water at the Moulin de Lamothe and led to Lugagnac, Vertheuil.
