L'Ile Nouvelle

Born from the meeting of two islands (Bouchaud and Sans Pain), the New Island, owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, is 6 km long in the heart of the Estuary and facing Blaye. Since its emergence in the early nineteenth century, its history is full of surprises: exploited for wine and agricultur culture, inhabited and finally abandoned. New Island opens to the public, come and share this adventure with smugglers history will accompany you on the old dike for a nature walk and in the middle of the old town, a visit-oriented heritage, cultural and historical.

How to get there

The new island is located in the middle of the Gironde Estuary and is only accessible by boat from Blaye or Pauillac.
