A la découverte du gemmage

A pleasant walk on the banks of the Ciron river leads you to the heart of the forest, where former resin workers passionately present their trade, which has now disappeared.

From February to October the gemstone does not leave the woods. From the preparation of the tree, carried out at the very beginning of the season, to the barrascot (end of the work), the resin tree runs through the pine forest. Very often, wives and children share its daily life by bringing their help.

The Friends of Bernos-Beaulac Heritage offer you a visit during which you will discover the history of this activity in the bazadais and the still intact know-how of the gemmers.
