Concert : LE GRAND COUTURIER (musique hawaiienne toute pétée / fr)

Le Grand Couturier is a trio formed by Rachel Langlais (keyboards, vocals), Jean-François Riffaud (composition, steel guitar, vocals) and Clément Vercelletto (drums, synths). Inspired primarily by Hawaiian and Polynesian music of the mid-20th century, the group revisits these musical forms by confronting them with contemporary synthetic and electric textures. Le Grand Couturier?s music evokes the gap between the carefree spirit of the "American Dream", illustrated by its reappropriation in the Exotica movement, and the violence of the contemporary world, through the deconstruction of this aesthetic and the sound treatments derived from noisy music. The trio's members have been active on the French experimental and independent music scene for several years.
