Pirate en concert

Pirate is the name of this new band, which wasted no time in launching an assault by setting its sights on a treasure trove of the highest order: the repertoire created by John Scofield and Joe Lovano during their quartet adventure, enhanced with a few new standards.

While John Scofield made a name for himself through his work alongside Miles during the jazz-rock era, it’s more surprising to hear him in an electro-acoustic style enhanced by the presence of his collaborator Joe Lovano on tenor sax; it is in this very jazz-oriented spirit, with New Orleans influences always very much present, that Pirate approached the themes of this landmark quartet with respect but no lack of passion.

The chemistry among the members of Pirate and the talent of each musician in this quartet give the ensemble a beautiful cohesion and a highly infectious enthusiasm.
